This is our our first year of (flag) football and cheer, and today was our 1st practice/jamboree.
The day was beautiful and the weather was perfect!!
Brian & I tag teamed during practice because Ethan was playing football and the girls were cheering at different locations. Thankfully we all meet up for the game and it was great to be able to watch them all at the same time.
Unfortunately I only have a few pics of the girls learning their cheers and NO pics of Ethan in his football gear because the battery in my camera went dead!! :-(
Take my word for it though - Ethan was SO cute! And he REALLY loved playing the game. And...I think I REALLY love being a "sports" mom. :-)
It was a fabulous day.

Family Fun Night
The Kids wanted to watch a movie for Family Fun Night. The movie was picked (A Knights Tale), the "camp" was set up and the popcorn was popped....
I left the kids for a few minutes to clean the kitchen and switch the laundry around.
This is what I found when I came back into the room:
Either Family Fun Night wasn't very "fun" or these kids were VERY tired!

Are You Smarter than a 1st Grader?
OK, so I joke all the time about looking forward to the fun stuff I am going to learn now that my kids are in school. You know all that stuff that was missed the 1st time around....
Well apparently that was no joke!
This week Sadie checked out a book from her school library titled The Pledge of Allegiance. We read the book together and here are just a few facts about the American Flag I found interesting and thought you might too:
2. When the President is not in Washington D.C. the flag outside the White House doesn't fly.
3. The first flag is believed to have been designed by Francis Hopkinson and sewn by Betsy Ross (BTW, Betsy sat near to George Washington in church).
4. Red is for bravery, White is for liberty and Blue is for justice.
5. The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy for a children's magazine called The Youth's Companion.
So, truth be told.... Are You Smarter than a 1st Grader?

I've been tagged
I was tagged by my personal friend and blogging buddy Krista http://bitsandpiecesofahappylife.blogspot.com/
For this tag I have been asked to name 6 things that are unspectacular about me.
Here they are:
1. I begin and end every day with coffee! Of course, now that I am in my 30’s I drink decaf in the evenings.
2. Speaking of being in my 30’s – I have truly embraced the privilege of aging. I am not ashamed or embarrassed to admit my true age (34). Each year has been fuller, richer, and more valuable than the previous. Age has taught me the true worth of time. It is a precious and priceless commodity that I will choose not to waste.
3. I LOVE, I mean REALLY love FL. Even on our hottest days, even in our darkest thunder storms and even though we only have 1 season. I love FLORIDA!!!
4. I HATE, REALLY HATE CHANGE!
5. My favorite sound is children laughing. Deep belly laughs. The genuine over the top delight that comes from deep within a child. That sounds brings me joy unexplainable.
6. I believe perspective is everything!
Now it is my turn to tag. So I hope the following bloggers are up for the challenge.

Old Friends New Memories
I have this GREAT friend Marci. She and I became friends in early 2007. In just one day together we became OLD FRIENDS. Our conversations flowed easily, we shared deep dark secrets, hopes, fears and dreams. It was refreshing and fun yet deep and real all at the same time. For 7 fabulous months we enjoyed this friendship as did our husbands and our children. Our families spent countless weekends together and Ethan even brought Gavin on a mini vacation with us which Marci, Aaron and their other children later joined us.
Needless to say I was DEVASTATED when the Lord called my friend and her family to Texas. I cried, my kids cried it was awful yet we were thrilled for them and knew they were following the Lord and His call on their life....they went to TX and did all the Lord had for them to do there and 13 months later He blessed them (AND ME) and brought them back to PSL, FL!!!
They've been back for just 4 days and we've spent 3 of those 4 days together and have already had 1 sleepover and another planned for next week! :-)
Here are a few shots of a really great weekend!!!

We have a New Addition
Yep, you read correctly. WE HAVE A NEW ADDITION!
I don't have a lot of details right now...We aren't sure if it's a boy or a girl, we aren't sure of it's age, we aren't even sure of it's name. All we know is IT lives here!
"It" has been called:
"NOBODY"
"IT WASN'T ME"
"I DON'T KNOW"
"I DON'T REMEMBER"
"I'M NOT SURE"
"It" has done many naughty things - maybe even some good things. Although "it" hasn't gotten much credit for the good things yet! We love "it" regardless and we are eager to meet "it". Once we do, we will personally introduce him or her to all of our friends and family! We promise we will also give "it" a proper name!!
Stay with us - the Growing Garcia's are indeed "GROWING" :-)
